Responsibilities:

As a Product Designer at Smashing Ideas you will play a key role in the interpretation of business goals and customer needs, in order to translate them into compelling, elegant and engaging experiences. You are a natural collaborator and an excellent communicator, able to develop and present design ideas in a team environment. You?ll approach your work from a multidisciplinary, holistic perspective, applying your expertise across the user experience and interface design to define and design complete, end-to-end product solutions.

Mandatory Skills:

  • 2+ years of industry experience with a focus on product design, possessing solid capabilities in both user experience and user interface disciplines across a variety of platforms including web, mobile web and native apps (iOS and Android)
  • A passion for ideation, exploration and problem-solving, you actively seek out opportunities to innovate by applying rigorous design thinking  
  • Design interaction diagrams, flows, and experiences that are incredibly simple and elegant
  • Clearly communicate concepts and designs through sketches, wireframes, prototypes and high fidelity comps 
  • Exceptional attention to detail and craft through an affinity for consistency, color use, typography, and a keen eye for subtle details
  • Excel at the prototyping process, moving quickly from whiteboarding to paper to digital and interactive. Can immediately identify the appropriate level of fidelity needed to execute a proof of concept  
  • You will demonstrate the ability to connect your work to product goals and look for new benefits to your solutions along the way
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to present well-rationalized solutions. You're comfortable with discussing the pros and cons of your approach and welcome feedback, you are motivated by group critique
  • Regularly review your work with senior design staff to get feedback on direction and to ensure the work is aligned with the product vision and business goals 
  • A deep understanding of the importance of research and how it drives solutions. You utilize qualitative and quantitative data to inform and inspire the design and can clearly communicate and defend solutions with compelling reasoning that's backed by research
  • Participate in immersive user research, research analysis, concept testing, usability testing, and analytics
  • A foundational understanding of accessibility principles
  • Work with design directors and project managers to understand design requirements
  • Create and maintain responsive design system libraries
  • Develop detailed design specs for production and handoff, and work closely with the development team to guide the implementation of design specifications and business requirements
  • Follow an agile development timeline to ensure tasks are being completed on time
  • You are adaptable and can flexibly apply your product design skills across a variety of diverse project types
  • Highly skilled in Figma, Sketch, InVision, Zeplin, Photoshop, Illustrator, and other design tools

 

Nice-To-Have Skills:

  • Ability to synthesize research and craft personas, experience narratives, and other related artifacts
  • Experience with collecting data, analyzing, and synthesizing insights and sense-making models such as archetypes, user journeys, models, etc.
  • Ability to present work to clients
