Oncorus, Inc. is an early-stage biotechnology company developing the next-generation oncolytic virus immunotherapy platforms to treat cancer.  We are seeking a highly motivated, skilled, and experienced in vivo scientist to join our Pharmacology group.  The successful candidate will contribute to Oncorus? programs by independently designing, conducting, and analyzing experiments to investigate the PK/PD, efficacy, mode of action, biodistribution, and tolerability of Oncorus? oncolytic viruses.  Experience in animal models for immuno-oncology drug development, efficacy studies, and the development and implementation of PK/PD assays is required.   Strong multi-tasking organizational skills and the ability to operate and communicate effectively within a matrixed team environment is required.  The exciting and impactful position provides the opportunity to learn and apply a wealth of new techniques and concepts while contributing to the development of promising new cancer therapies.

Summary of Key Responsibilities:

  • Innovate, design, and successfully execute at the bench by leading or supporting key studies relating to in vivo and ex vivo pharmacology, including efficacy, PK/PD, mode of action, biodistribution, and tolerability assessments.
  • Knowledge of how to develop and conduct in vivo studies with mouse tumor models, including xenograft, syngeneic, and humanized models. 
  • Develop and/or optimize (or collaborate with other functional groups) the necessary molecular or immunological assays to support pharmacology study objectives.
  • Serve as the pharmacology lead on program teams, providing guidance and direction on pharmacology strategy and experimental design.  Collaborate with the program team lead to optimally integrate pharmacology work into meeting program objectives.
  • Excellent scientific and personal communication skills and flexibility in working on multiple projects in close cross-functional collaboration, both within the company and by outsourcing studies to CRO partners. 
  • Contribute to technical reports for patent applications, IND reports, and scientific publications.  Present results to team, management, and external conferences.
  • Ability to adapt to frequent change and thrive in a dynamic and entrepreneurial early-stage environment

  • B.S. in the biological sciences or a closely related field with at least 6 years of relevant laboratory experience in academia or industry.
  • M.S. in the biological sciences or a closely related field with at least 3 years of relevant laboratory experience in academia or industry.
  • Hands-on expertise in animal care and handling techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting in vivo experiments in syngeneic and xenograft tumor models, experience with humanized mouse models is a plus.
  • Proficiency in tumor induction techniques, including subcutaneous and orthotopic implantation is essential.
  • Ability to prepare dosing solutions for test materials and proficiency in dosing via multiple routes of administration including SC, IV, ITu, IP.
  • Proficiency in blood and tissue sample collection.
  • Experience in ex vivo sample processing is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of analytical techniques such as flow cytometry, ELISA, MSD, qPCR and/or Nanostring is a plus.
