Responsibili ties ~
The Senior Scientist II is a member of the Government Services & Technology Team, which helps governments, international organizations, and corporations advance the capability and capacity to mitigate human and animal disease risk. The Senior Scientist II will support the Government Customer and be a subject matter resource to personnel, partners (e.g. academic institutions, government research laboratories, etc), other subject matter experts (SME's), consultants, executive and administrative teams, and numerous other stakeholders. He/she will ensure timely and quality completion of program milestones, as well as provide scientific oversight and guidance to facilitate effective execution of Government-issued requirements, particularly with regard to the US Department of Defense. The selected candidate will also provide expert guidance on project, program, and proposal management; research collaboration; and areas of scientific expertise, where required.
The Senior Scientist II ? Government Services will ~
Provide exceptional leadership to project/program assigned personnel to achieve and enhance the Government Customer mission.
Manage accountability and communication of team performance/progress to the Government Customer and internal stakeholders.
Assist with pursuit of new business opportunities, including interfacing with Government Customers
Provide scientific and programmatic oversight of all activities and of assigned personnel.
Facilitate and, as required, lead coordination of programmatic response and proposal development.
Lead overall scientific implementation for assigned projects/programs.
Determine management processes required to optimize project/program performance.
Set tone for compliance, quality control, and business practices.
Other duties as assigned in support of project/program execution.
Selection Criteria ~
A strong focus and commitment to quality, compliance, and reporting requirements.
An ability to provide support in the delivery of a diverse range of services, with strong social skills and minimal supervision.
Demonstrated reliability in meeting deadlines and commitments, with an ability to set realistic goals, problem-solve, and establish work priorities.
Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills, especially within diverse international settings.
Demonstrated experience in project/program and personnel management, with exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
Experience in the development and delivery of scientific training.
Sound understanding of laboratory procedures and relevant standards for working with Federal Select Agents and Toxins in the One Health arena.
A working knowledge of Government contracts, with experience managing complex federal contract requirements, implementation plans, deliverables, schedules, and budgets.
Experience working on projects/programs with international stakeholders.
Possess a responsive, positive, and team-oriented disposition.
Doctoral degree in microbiology, molecular biology, virology, epidemiology, public health, or other related field.
5+ years? experience in management of Government-funded scientific, public health, or technology development projects/programs. scientific or health projects/programs.
Experience working in biosafety level (BSL)-3 and/or -4 laboratory settings preferred.
Requires experience in biosafety procedures, preferably within high containment.
Additional qualifications/competencies may include development of scientific research grant proposals, contract proposals, and scientific training materials.
Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher), Adobe, IE, Windows, OS.
